Since the Biden administrations early years, we have been told that inflation is either insignificant, transitory, or a short-term pain for a long-term stable economy. But now, almost all economists and government leaders will acknowledge that inflation is here to stay for the foreseeable future. How should we think about inflation from the Bible's perspective? What lessons can we learn from the past? How can we prepare for the future?

Hyperbole in Bible Study

Thursday Feb 27, 2025

Thursday Feb 27, 2025

The Bible is full of figures of speech which have not been brought into our translations accurately. One of these figures of speech is hyperbole, to exaggerate or amplify something for effect. Many of the figures of speech in the Bible border what we in the West would consider a lie, but not so from an Eastern point of view. These figures of speech and cultural differences can indeed make Bible study difficult. Recognizing these figures of speech and cultural differences helps the Bible student understand a passage in a profound way they never could have without that understanding.

The Lord's Prayer is a prayer millions of individuals will recite every week. Unfortunately, most have no idea what the prayer even means. The topic of trade wars and the use of protective tariffs have not been a conversation that Christians typically want to have. Some just do not think it fits in any theological category. But during the reign of Cyrus the Great tariffs were an issue as Ezra tells us. So, just what do tariffs do? Are they a weapon to use against other nations? What does Scripture teach on this topic?

Opposing Themselves

We have all heard the expression, "He is his own worst enemy." It is a figure of speech used to express the reality of an individual's own attitude or action is working against them. The Bible speaks of those who oppose themselves. How does a Christian in this Dispensation of Grace "oppose themselves?"

One of the seemingly inescapable states of the human condition is that of grief. No matter what we do we cannot escape the grasp grief will eventually have on our lives. Why then should we continue to move forward?

The One Great requirement of the Word is grounded on the fact that it is "the Word of Truth." This fact is so stated in 2 Timothy 2:15 to imply that, unless the Word is thus tightly divided, we shall not get "truth;" and that we shall get its truth only in proportion to the measure in which we divide it rightly/correctly.

Recently, a great debate has been raging in the United Kingdom's Parlaiment about Euthanasia and assisted suicide. This debate has also begun within churches throughout western democracies. Christians can sometimes be lured into supporting assisted suicide and euthanasia, believing that it is compassionate. But what does the Bible say about this?

January 1,2025 brought horrific tragedy and immense heartache to many people in the New Orleans area. What purpose does profound suffering have? Why does suffering even have to occur? Does God have an answer to suffering? Today's Differing Things will look at these very profound questions.

Differing Things

The BIBLE IS God's love letter written to us. The Bible tells us who we are, how we were made, how we were lost, and how we were purchased back When we spend time reading and thinking about the things which are written in the Bible, we change. The Bible is living. Consequently, we believe the Bible contains the answer to all of our societal ills, and a literal interpretation of it will resolve denominational divisions. At Differing Things we seek to expose errors in both religion and society and give the Biblical answers!
