Differing Things

Differing Things is a podcast which focuses on far religion and society have deviated from the Bible. It is easy for us to see deviation when we look at society, but sometimes it is difficult for us to see these deviations when it comes to religion. It is difficult because most of us have a conditioned bias to a certain way of thinking. Today's Differing Things will challenge those biases by looking at the very misunderstood doctrine of Water Baptism!

Humankinds potential for self-destruction through the lusts of the flesh appears to be limitless. While there is nothing new in the sensual sins and wanton debauchery that we witness in our culture, technology has undoubtedly advanced its influence. One such sin is being promoted in an apparently fanatical fashion: transgenderism!

Communication is critical for individuals to share and express important ideas. Unfortunatly, our communication is often lacking the necessary precision creating confusion in the hearer. This confusion typically results in rejection of some very important Bible truths. One such truth is the Dispensation of the Grace of God. Should not our language be precise to ensure great communication of the truth?

What has been called the "Gap Theory" was a popular and consistent explanation of the first chapter of Genesis among Christians up through the mid 1900s. With the rise of Young Earth Creationism, the Gap understanding was simply pushed to the background and ridiculed as a past effort to satisfy the claims of modern evolutionary science. In effect the new teachers buried this doctrine with the debris of Noah's flood deposits. What does the Bible really teach about a Gap? Does a Gap have any basis in Bible Doctrine?

It seems like every time we read a newspaper, or watch a news source we see evidence of declining morality. The western world is quickly becoming immoral, and it seems like there is no way for it to ever recover. What do the Scriptures have to say about declining morality in the Western world? What is the answer to this problem?

There is a great deal of confusion in the Church – the Body of Christ regarding the Sabbath. Questions that must be asked include: What should the Christian position be regarding the 4th Commandment? Should the Christian observe the Sabbath? Should the Sabbath be on Sunday or Saturday? How should the Sabbath be observed in practice? Is Saturday the Jewish Sabbath and Sunday the Christian Sabbath?

Biblical adoption is not what you think it is. In his book “Redemption Accomplished and Applied” author John Murray details what ancient Roman adoption was like. John Murray defines adoption as a legal act. According to Murray, “It is the bestowal of a status, or standing.” How does understanding Roman customs from 2000 years ago impact Christians in the year 2023? Many of us are familiar with the account of Jesus so-called "triumphal entry" into Jerusalem. One of the few stories told by all four gospels. But was it the simple, humble donkey ride into the city that it is often portrayed to be. Or was it specifically designed to be much more: a pre-arranged, coronation ceremony orchestrated by Jesus to portray Himself as the promised king of Israel in fulfillment of both royal and prophetic tradition?
